Several Wake County athletic directors were recognized by their colleagues at the North Carolina Athletic Directors State Conference in Asheville over the weekend.

Among the honorees was Deran Coe, the Director of Athletics for the Wake County Public School System, who was inducted into the NCADA Hall of Fame.

Coe has served as the athletic director for WCPSS since 2013. In that time, he’s overseen several initiatives for the school district, including the launch of new sports like stunt and flag football, adding Unified Sports programs, and creating new safety initiatives for Wake County athletes.

Coe has served in multiple leadership positions with the NCADA and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.

Prior to becoming the district athletic director, Coe was the athletic director at then-Wake Forest-Rolesville High School.

In December, Coe received the Bruce D. Whitehead Distinguished Service Award from the NIAAA.
