
Felton Grove High School is the newest school in Wake County that will serve up to 2,200 students in the future with initial enrollment around 1,158 students. Located at 8550 Stephenson Road in Apex, North Carolina the school will alleviate overcrowding from other high schools in the area.
An innovative educational vision is unfolding, providing students with a flexible and inquiry-based learning environment set apart from traditional school layouts. By prioritizing flexibility, enhancing indoor-outdoor connections, and creating a vibrant central commons, dedicated to community engagement and enriching learning experiences.
Featuring a two-story central dining commons, serving as a hub for activities and events, including assemblies, meetings, and community gatherings. The central space aids in learning by providing physical and visual connections to key program elements, fostering cohesion within the school. Additionally, the design incorporates three-story academic wings, each with breakout commons to support personalized learning experiences, while exterior features like the learning terrace and courtyard enhance outdoor gathering spaces.
The Felton Grove Galaxy will be the first school to sport light blue and red as well as the first school to have the Galaxy as the school mascot. They will compete in the newly formed Triangle Six 6A/7A Conference with Middle Creek, Cardinal Gibbons, Cary, Holly Springs, and Sanderson. The closest opponent will be the Middle Creek Mustangs located less than five miles from Felton Grove.
In its first full year Felton Grove will have freshman and sophomore classes with the plan to have JV and Varsity levels for every sport with the exception of tackle football being JV only for the first few seasons.
Joseph Sharrow, the current athletic director at Jordan HS in Durham, has been named the first athletic director beginning July 1st with the school opening to students in August 2025.Â
