Welcome to West Cary Middle School Athletics
Coach Owens will be verifying Dragonfly accounts for athletes during “Meet the Teacher” on Monday and from Tuesday, August 27th to Friday 30th in the gym before school from 7:00-7:30 am.
It is imperative that your athlete completes their Dragonfly account verification to be eligible to try out for any sports. Without this verification, they cannot participate in tryouts. Once cleared by Coach Owens, athletes will receive a wristband and be placed on the coach’s roster as cleared for tryouts. Wristbands must be worn until tryouts are completed.
Tryouts are scheduled to take place from Tuesday, September 3, to Monday, September 9, 2:30-4:30 pm. Please make sure you are on time to pick up your athlete. Failure to do so may result in he/she not making the team.

ALL ATHLETES MUST REGISTER ONLINE PRIOR TO TRYOUTS FOR ALL SPORTS
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO TRY OUT?
- Age – Shall not participate if he/she becomes 15 years of age on or before August 31 of said school year
- Proof of Insurance – Insurance information completed
- Physical – Medical (physical) examination within last year (365 days + 30 day grace period= 395 days) by a duly licensed physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant (doctor of chiropractic medicine is not satisfactory).
- Concussion Information and Concussion Statement – Concussion Information must be read by student-athlete and parent/legal custodian. Concussion Statement must have initials and signatures of student-athlete and parent/legal custodian. This must be done on an annual basis (once every 395 days).
- Attendance – The State Board of Education requires at least 85% attendance (no more than 14 total absences) during the previous semester.
- Academics – Students must meet promotion requirements. Students must also earn passing grades (D or better) in one less course than the required core courses each semester to be eligible for participating during the succeeding semester.
- Promotion – Must meet promotion requirements for the previous school year in order to be eligible for the fall semester. The State Board of Education defines promotion as “progressing to the next grade”. Students retained either by the school or the parents will be ineligible.

- DOWNLOAD THE PHYSICAL FORMS AND HAVE THEM SIGNED BY A DOCTOR (LINK BELOW)
- UPLOAD THE PHYSICAL TO DragonFly Max TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION
- Complete and upload all required forms to DragonFly account
All athletic events cost $6 for adults and students. Kids 5 and under are free. Free for Wake County Employees. Tickets can be purchased through GoFan link below or at the athletic event with cash or card.
