Girls Wrestling Champions Crowned
As mentioned, Garner’s Addison Gore won the 120-pound weight class in the 7A classification, recording a fall at the 51-second mark of the championship round against Lake Norman’s Gabriella Gibson, but Gore was not the only girls wrestling champion from Wake County.
Ella Taylor of Cary won the 7A 235-pound weight class due to an injury to Saniya Brown of Overhills in the championship match.
Ascenzi Callahan of Green Level won the 107-pound weight class in the 8A classification. Callahan beat Millbrook’s Sophia Gould in a 19-16 decision in the championship match.
Millbrook’s Lisa-Jean Foley won the 8A 120-pound weight class, pinning Hoke County’s Harley Hardin at the 3:52 mark in the championship.
