The Old Wake Rivalry between Apex High School and Cary High School reached a historic 100-year milestone this year. The rivalry began in 1925 when Apex shut out Cary with a 51-0 victory. Since then, the series record has stood at 50–30–3, with Cary holding the edge in total wins.
This year’s game was played on August 23rd at WakeMed Soccer Park, where Cary came out on top once again with a 25-10 victory. The win marked Cary’s 51st in the storied rivalry, further cementing their lead in one of the state’s oldest and most intense matchups.
