Apex Friendship graduating senior Jasmine Nivar was named the Most Valuable Player at the N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game on Monday night in Greensboro.
Nivar, a 5-foot-10 guard, led the East team with a double-double, posting 25 points and 11 rebounds on 10-of-14 shooting. Her performance helped the East to a 97-85 win over the West. She also recorded three assists and two steals.
During her four-year varsity career at Apex Friendship, Nivar earned all-conference honors every season. As a senior, she averaged 27.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game, earning conference player of the year honors. She will play college basketball at Campbell.
Also playing for the East team was Amanda Mitchell from Willow Spring. She is the first East-West All-Star in school history for the Storm.
Mitchell, a 6-foot-2 small forward, scored six points and brought in eight rebounds for the East team. She will play college basketball at Radford next season after averaging 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for Willow Spring.
The East-West All-Star Games are an annual event that puts some of North Carolina’s top graduating seniors from the East against the West. Players are nominated by their high school coaches, then selected by the all-star coaches.
The 2025 East-West All-Star Game was played at the Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.
