The 2026 Adidas XC Challenge took play on Friday, September 18 at the WakeMed Soccer Park Cross Country course. This event serves as one of the premier early-season cross country invitationals in the Southeast. It features multi-day competition spanning high school, middle school, and Division I college races.
Competing against hundreds of elite athletes from across North Carolina and the Southeast, local WCPSS runners secured individual titles, top-five finishes, and strong team placements.Â
Slawinski Claims Individual Championship Title
Broughton High School senior Charlie Slawinski stole the spotlight in the Boys Championship Division. Slawinski broke away from a crowded pack to capture 1st place overall, crossing the finish line with an impressive final time of 15:08.70.
Slawinski’s victory led a dominant showing for Broughton, which alongside district rivals Green Level and Panther Creek, brought large delegations that scored prominently across all race divisions.
Kuss Leads Local Girls with Top-5 Finish
For the girls, Holly Springs High School senior Savannah Kuss had a stellar performance in the Girls Championship Division. Kuss clocked in at 17:51.10, securing a top-five overall finish among a stacked field of regional competition.
Green Level Paces WCPSS Team Standings
In the team competition, Green Level High School earned top honors among Wake County programs in the Girls Championship Division, finishing 10th overall in the state-wide field.
WCPSS was well-represented throughout the final standings, highlighting the deep talent pool across Wake County athletics:
